El PCT Cartuja incrementa su actividad económica y roza los 3.000 millones

Rogelio Velasco destaca la enorme capacidad de resiliencia del Parque Científico y Tecnológico sevillano, que aumenta en 2020 tanto el número de empresas alojadas, hasta las 536, como el empleo, que subió un 4% y se sitúa en 23.701 trabajadores.

El Parque Científico y Tecnológico Cartuja (PCT Cartuja), entidad dependiente de la Consejería de Transformación Económica, Industria, Conocimiento y Universidades, ha mejorado todos sus indicadores económicos en 2020 a pesar de los negativos efectos de la pandemia. Así, la actividad económica generada por el Parque sevillano ha alcanzado los 2.978 millones de euros, un 2,6% por encima del resultado de 2019. Esta cifra pone de manifiesto que la facturación agregada por las empresas y entidades del recinto representa ya el 7,8% del Producto Interior Bruto (PIB) de la provincia de Sevilla y el 1,9% del PIB regional.

El consejero Rogelio Velasco, presidente de la sociedad gestora del PCT Cartuja, ha asegurado que “estos datos confirman el peso que tiene este enclave innovador y, por supuesto, la resiliencia de sus entidades para afrontar momentos tan difíciles”. Velasco, que ha presentado el informe anual del Parque Científico y Tecnológico, ha avanzado que el recinto acoge ya a 536 empresas y entidades, cifra un 2,5 superior a la de cierre de 2019, que generan un empleo de 23.701 trabajadores, un 4% más que el ejercicio anterior. Por actividad económica, el PCT Cartuja se consolida como primer parque andaluz, seguido de cerca por Málaga TechPark, que en 2020 facturó 2.104 millones de euros.

Según el titular de Transformación Económica, “estas cifras adquieren aún mayor relevancia si las comparamos con el resto de parques científicos y tecnológicos miembros de la Asociación Parques Científicos y Tecnológicos de España, APTE”. Así, mientras que los 52 parques cerraron el pasado ejercicio con un 2% menos de empresas y entidades instaladas en sus recintos (al situarse en 7.967), el PCT Cartuja mantiene su tendencia al alza. Lo mismo ocurre con su actividad económica: en el conjunto de los parques socios de APTE la facturación decreció un 8,9%, hasta los 27.244 millones de euros. El recinto sevillano representa ya un 10,9% del total de la actividad económica de los parques científicos y tecnológicos españoles.

En cuanto al número de trabajadores, la subida general del 3,3% en los recintos de APTE (184.508 en total) ha estado impulsada por el alza registrada en el PCT Cartuja, que aglutina el 12,8% del total de los empleados en los parques españoles.

Con respecto al perfil de los profesionales del parque, la mayoría se encuentra en el rango de edad de entre 30 y 50 años (el 56%). El 42% de los puestos de trabajo está ocupado por mujeres, si bien este dato asciende al 54% en el área de Servicio Avanzados. Rogelio Velasco ha resaltado, en este punto, un aspecto “realmente significativo y que constata cómo nuestras empresas continúan avanzando firmemente en igualdad de género en sus puestos de dirección”. Así, el 27% de las empresas del PCT Cartuja tienen a mujeres en cargos de responsabilidad, mientras que en 2019 esta cifra era tan sólo del 14%.

El PCT Cartuja demuestra año a año su capacidad de atracción y creación de empresas. Desde el año 2001 el número de entidades con sede social en el Parque ha crecido un 174%, desde las 195 hasta las 536 de cierre de 2020.
Atendiendo a la caracterización de las 536 entidades, el 51% pertenece al área de tecnologías avanzadas, un 25% al área de servicios avanzados y un 24% a servicios generales. En lo que respecta a su tamaño, la media de empleados se mantiene en 44 trabajadores y trabajadoras por entidad, con un incremento de las microempresas o pequeñas empresas, que suponen ya el 58% del total.

La mayor fortaleza del recinto sigue siendo el área de tecnologías avanzadas, “área que triplica la facturación generada por las empresas de servicios avanzados y quintuplican la de servicios generales”, ha resaltado el consejero. Las tecnologías avanzadas generan el 66% de la facturación y el 59% del empleo del parque”, ha apuntado Velasco.

Dentro del área de tecnologías avanzadas, el titular de Transformación Económica ha hecho hincapié en la fortaleza de las empresas del sector de Energía y Medio Ambiente, que se consolida como el de mayor facturación, con 802 millones de euros, que representa el 26,93% del total; seguido de Telecomunicaciones e Informática, con el 17,30%.

Importante apuesta por las tecnologías disruptivas
El consejero ha querido resaltar, además, “dos aspectos que considero de gran relevancia: el papel de la I+D+i en el PCT Cartuja y la apuesta de sus empresas por el uso de tecnologías disruptivas”. A su juicio, “es cierto que en una época de incertidumbre como la de 2020, la tónica más generaliza es que se retraiga la inversión en términos generalizados, una práctica a la que no es ajena la innovación. Sin embargo, pese a haber vivido un año tan duro en términos económicos, el parque obtuvo una ratio del 3,34% de inversión en I+D+i por actividad económica, una cifra muy por encima de la media de la UE (2,08%), España (1,47%) y de Andalucía (0,93%)”, ha apuntado. Además, se ha producido un destacable aumento en el número de proyectos de I+D+i: en 2020 se han iniciado un total de 937, frente a los 793 del año anterior.

En cuanto al uso de tecnologías disruptivas, el 33% de las entidades que integran el PCT Cartuja han reconocido haber hecho uso de ellas. Destacan Big Data y Analytics (16%), Cloud Computing (13%) e Inteligencia Artificial (12%).
